Scope of Authority

The Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Tribunal mainly hears appeals against the orders passed by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Joint Registrars, or Arbitrators. Common matters include:

  • Disputes related to elections of cooperative societies.
  • Membership disputes, management irregularities, and committee issues.
  • Financial disagreements, audit objections, and recovery proceedings.
  • Surcharge proceedings, dissolution, or supersession of management committees.

Departments under the Tribunal's Jurisdiction

The Tribunal is a statutory quasi-judicial body that exercises appellate jurisdiction over matters arising from the Cooperative Societies of the following government departments. It hears appeals against orders, decisions, and actions passed by the competent authorities functioning under these departments.

Any individual, organization, designated authority/officer, or registered society aggrieved by the order defined in Section under 97 & 98 of U.P. Cooperative Societies Act, 1965 may approach the Tribunal for appropriate legal remedy in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
